Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for an estimated 325,000 deaths each year, with some studies showing the numbers to be above 400,000. There are no warning signs associated with SCA. It often affects those who have experienced previous episodes of SCA, heart attacks, or heart failure; but it can also strike someone with absolutely no history of heart problems. (CPR) and early defibrillation, with an automated external defibrillator (AED), can more than double a victim’s chance of survival.
