John Carney

John Carney is the founder and CEO of MARi. John has a long history of working in the communications and technology industries, dating back to their work with the Tanzania Education Fund Inc. and Carney Inc. In 1989, they began working with the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIAA) as a communications coordinator. John quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the Director of Information Technology in 1991. In this role, they led the transition from a Wang centralized terminal system to an IBM AS400 client server solution with desktop PC's running standard word processing and spreadsheet tools. John also led the requirements definition, procurement, and implementation of a new association software management system that covered the spectrum of finance to membership. Throughout their time at IIAA, they conducted employee training on everything from basic mouse skills to advanced financial reporting. John's work at IIAA sparked their passion for using technology to communicate in faster and more effective ways, which led him to their current role as CEO of MARi.

John Carney attended North Carolina State University where they earned their Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications/PR.
