MarineCatch Africa is an agriculture and blue economy enterprise working across fisheries and mariculture, with technology applied as an enabling layer rather than a primary product.

Recognised as a Presidential Innovation Award 2023 and 2024 project by the Kenya National Innovation Agency, MarineCatch Africa supports the transformation of Africa’s small-scale and artisanal fisheries by strengthening productivity, transparency, and income stability across the seafood value chain.

Our core focus is responsible sourcing, aggregation, and market access. We selectively deploy digital tools to improve operations, including traceability systems exploring blockchain and IoT, early-stage testing of eco labelling and certification pathways, and the design of embedded finance solutions such as digital payments, access to credit, and micro insurance to reduce risk and unlock working capital for fishers.

A marketplace model currently in design and testing aims to connect fishers and mariculture producers directly with hotels, restaurants, processors, retailers, and distributors, supporting fairer trade and reducing post harvest losses.

Beyond operations, we actively engage in policy dialogue and ecosystem collaboration to align with national and regional blue economy strategies.

Our vision is to combine traditional fisheries knowledge with practical and fit-for-purpose innovation to build a transparent, sustainable, and inclusive seafood industry across Africa. Pilot outcomes are targeted for Q1 2026.

We collaborate with fishers, private sector partners, financial institutions, sustainability organisations, and policymakers, shaping the future of Africa’s blue economy.
