Steve McClain

Steve McClain has a wealth of experience in the tech industry. Steve began their career in 2012 as a Senior Software Developer on the Mortgage Waterfall Infrastructure Team at Bloomberg LP. In this role, they were both an infrastructure developer and a data scientist, and they started a new team focused on distributed data processing and anomaly detection. Steve also developed Python scripts to automate tasks from PDF parsing to CSV extraction, transform, and loading, and maintained and enhanced a Java Spring-Framework shell utility. Additionally, they used R and Python as a member of a four-person Think Tank to identify novel content on Twitter, and conducted statistical analysis on Twitter metadata. In 2019, they joined Hawkfish LLC, where they held three roles: Platform Engineering Engineering Manager, Machine Learning Infrastructure Lead, and Decision Support Tools Lead. Most recently, in 2021, they became a Co-Founder at Marmalade Labs.

Steve McClain earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics and Economics from Lafayette College in 2012, and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Data Science from Columbia Engineering in 2018.
