Toby Lu

Toby Lu is an Applied Scientist at Marqo, specializing in machine learning and working on multimodal embedding models, multilingual model training, and generative AI since 2024. Previously, Toby completed a PhD in Computer Science at UNSW, where they were involved in artificial intelligence and robotics research and served on the rUNSWift RoboCup team. Toby has also gained experience as an Applied Scientist intern at Amazon, focusing on machine learning for recommender systems, and has held roles such as a Big Data Engineer at China Telecom and an IT intern at Volvo Car Group. A Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from UNSW and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Tongji University further complement Toby's academic background.
