David Thybert

Multiomics and System Biology Lead

David Thybert is a leading figure in genomics, with a focus on multiomics and system biology at Mars since 2025. Previously, they served as a Research Fellow at the Earlham Institute from 2016 to 2019, leading a research group on comparative functional genomics, and as the Ensembl comparative genomic project leader at the European Bioinformatics Institute from 2019 to 2022. David has also held roles at GSK as Director of Computational Biology and worked as a genomic consultant. They hold a PhD in Computational Biology from Université de Rennes I, where they also completed several master's degrees in bioinformatics and computing science. Currently, David is the founder and chair of the Rodent 2K Consortium, dedicated to sequencing rodent genomes to support biomedical research.
