Devin Carty

Devin has worked as a biologist and biochemist with NASA, built medical clinics in the jungles of the Congo, and pursued healthcare solutions as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and advisor.

Devin is the CEO of Martin Ventures, a healthcare-focused venture capital firm, where he leads the investment committee, builds and scales de novo companies, and provides oversight for 17 portfolio companies. Devin’s historical investments include AmericanWell (IPO), OneDrop (recapitalized by Bayer), Valify (acquired by HCA Healthcare), Trilliant Health (recapitalized by Primus Capital), Jvion (acquired by JMI Equity), Avizia (acquired by AmericanWell), Healthcare Bluebook (acquired by Primus Capital), and Clockwise.MD (acquired by DocuTAP).

At Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Devin served as executive vice president, chief talent officer, and chief strategy officer. He led the growth strategy, and advanced the culture, increasing employee engagement to the 93rd percentile, and enhanced patient experience, earning an NPS score of 96.

At Vanguard Health Systems, he served as the corporate chief talent officer, chief experience officer, and chief marketing officer. Devin was part of the team that grew Vanguard to 29 hospitals, 46,000 employees, and $6.5 billion in revenue. Vanguard had a public offering in 2011 and sold the company to Tenet for $4.3 billion in 2013.

At Gallup Consulting, Devin served as a partner on the healthcare team. He was a trusted advisor to some of the leading healthcare systems on change management, leadership development, talent-based hiring, compensation and benefits, advancing the employee culture, and improving the patient experience.

Devin began his career as a scientist -- a biologist and biochemist with NASA. His research centered around the effects of vibration on bacterial growth and antibiotic resistance. While working with NASA, Devin served as a medical missionary in the Congo and, as he traveled through jungles building clinics, he discovered his passion for providing medical care to those in need.
