Maruko Labs is an independent lab with one philosophy: learn by doing.

We build ambitious projects in the open, wins and mistakes included, at the seam where software meets the physical world.

The flagship: Project Akari (launching 2026)
An AI companion that bridges the digital and the real: memory, personality, a 3D presence, and a voice that can drive real hardware. Say a phrase and a relay clicks. Let a timer finish and the workshop lamp switches on. Akari runs locally on your machine (macOS, Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi 5) with your own API keys: a one-time lifetime license, no subscription, and nothing leaves your desk.

The community
The lab builds alongside makers sharing their own projects, with or without Akari: trading configurations, steering the roadmap, and posting the builds they kept putting off.
