Sumit Kumar started their career as a research intern at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 2015. In the same year, they also worked as a research project for their master's thesis at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur. In 2017, they joined Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad as a Junior Research Fellow and also worked as a subject matter expert at Chegg Inc. during the same year. Sumit then pursued a doctoral degree and became a Doctoral Researcher at Université Paris-Saclay in 2018. While working there, they gained in-depth knowledge of semiconductor compounds, epitaxial growth, and optical characterization. Sumit also developed novel experiments for creating single-photon emitter nanowires, quantum dots, and quantum well heterostructures. Using TEM observations, they discovered a new crystal phase in nanowires and modeled it using the Ising model and probability calculations. Currently, they hold a scientist position at Marvel Fusion since 2022.
Sumit Kumar earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Delhi University in 2014. Sumit then pursued a Masters in Physics at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology from 2014 to 2016. In 2018, they started a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Université Paris-Saclay in the field of Physics, which they completed in 2022. No information is given about any additional certifications.
