Chris Went

Chris Went currently serves as the Executive Director of Hospitals and Executive Director of Regional Health at Mater since June 2023, following a tenure as Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Chris was the Chief Executive Officer at Greenslopes Private Hospital from December 2017 to May 2023 and also held the position of Deputy Chair at the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation. Additional experience includes serving as the Chief Executive Officer of St Andrews Ipswich Private Hospital from March 2011 to December 2017 and in various roles at Greenslopes Private Hospital between 2005 and 2011. Involvement in governance roles includes serving as Deputy Chair at Ipswich Grammar School since October 2016. Academically, Chris holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Australian Catholic University, a Graduate Certificate in Emergency from Griffith University, an Executive Programme from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing from the University of Central Queensland, and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and Management from the University of Southern Queensland.
