Charles Hawkins

Charles Hawkins is a skilled engineering professional with extensive experience in the automotive and motorsport industries. Currently serving as a Consultant Application Engineer at MathWorks since January 2022, Hawkins previously held prominent roles at McLaren Applied from November 2006 to December 2021, including Chief Engineer, Head of Electronic Systems, and Head of Race Systems, where responsibilities included the development and support of the FIA F1 Standard ECU and overseeing complex software applications for multiple F1 teams. Hawkins also served as the Head of Vehicle Electronics at McLaren Racing from July 2001 to November 2006, managing the integration of all electrical and electronic systems for F1 racing cars. With a Master of Arts in Electrical and Information Sciences from the University of Cambridge, obtained between 1987 and 1990, Hawkins demonstrates a strong academic foundation to complement a robust professional background.
