Jie Chen

Jie Chen is an experienced performance engineering leader currently serving as Team Lead at MathWorks since December 2022, where the focus includes MATLAB startup, language execution, benchmarking, and performance profiling tooling development. Prior to this role, Jie Chen worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Principal Performance Engineer on the Redshift data warehouse service and was a Senior Performance Engineer at The MathWorks from June 2015 to August 2022, concentrating on MATLAB desktop application startup time and developing the Unified Timeline Profiling Tool for multi-threaded profiling across various programming languages. Jie Chen holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from The George Washington University, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University.
