Roy Lurie

VP Engineering, Matlab Products at Mathworks

Roy Lurie started their professional career in 1992 as the Founder and Managing Director of OPTI-NUM Solutions, a company that brought the power of MATLAB and Simulink to the South African market. Roy represented The MathWorks and provided Technical Computing and Model-Based Design products and services to engineering, financial, and academic professionals.

In 1994, Lurie joined MathWorks, where they held various roles over the years. Roy started as a Business Development Program Manager, then became a Development Manager for Test & Measurement Toolboxes. In 1999, they were promoted to Senior Development Manager for MATLAB Products and later became an Engineering Director. Finally, in 2004, Lurie took on the position of VP Engineering for MATLAB Products at MathWorks.

Roy Lurie has a strong educational background in Electrical Engineering. Roy started their education at Sandown High from 1981 to 1985. Roy then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1986 to 1989. Roy continued their studies and obtained a Master of Science degree from the same university from 1990 to 1991. Roy further advanced their knowledge in the field by earning a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand from 1991 to 1994.
