Steve Jepson

Steve Jepson has extensive work experience in the field of data engineering, business intelligence, and data warehousing. Steve started their career in 1994 as a Software Engineer at Instem Computer Systems, where they later became a Team Leader and Senior Software Engineer. During this time, they led the development of the Reporting and Advanced Statistics sub-system of DATATOX.

In 1998, Steve worked as a Consultant at Xicon, where they provided their expertise to various projects. Steve then joined Molière (formerly marchFIRST and Fulcrum Solutions) in 1999 as a Consultant and gradually took on roles of increasing responsibility, eventually becoming a Lead Consultant, Senior Consultant, and a founding member of the company through a management buy-out. At Molière, Steve worked on Data Warehousing, ERP, and bespoke Client Server and Intranet projects for clients in the insurance, retail, manufacturing, and financial sectors.

From 2002 to 2011, Steve worked as an Independent Consultant at NMJ CONSULTING LTD, where they provided advisory, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and stakeholder management services to end clients and third-party clients. Their projects mainly involved Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, as well as some bespoke Client Server and Intranet developments.

Steve then joined bet365 in 2011 as a Data Warehouse Manager. In this role, they led a team of Senior Developers and Developers and oversaw the enhancement, support, and maintenance of Bet365's multi-terabyte, multi-node Data Warehouse. Steve implemented project developments using Waterfall or Agile/TDD/XP methods and introduced operating procedures, design and test documents, coding standards, and peer reviews to improve release planning.

In 2014, Steve briefly worked as an Independent Consultant at RDN TECHNOLOGIES LTD before joining MoneySuperMarket.com in 2015 as a Data Engineer. At MoneySuperMarket.com, they worked within a cross-functional team to build a Motor Insurance Sales Data Mart. Steve utilized ETL tools such as Talend to work with a HP Vertica based Data Warehouse and also gained experience in deploying projects to the Amazon AWS Cloud using Jenkins, GitHub, and SVN.

Most recently, Steve has been working at Matillion since 2016. Steve started as an Implementation Consultant, responsible for the full lifecycle delivery and maintenance of Amazon AWS Cloud-based self-service BI solutions. Steve worked with various data sources, including MySQL, MS SQL, data files, and Web API calls, and implemented ETL using Matillion ETL and Talend. In 2022, they transitioned to the role of Solutions Architect, where they continue to contribute their expertise in building and implementing BI solutions on platforms like Amazon Redshift, Google Big Query, and Snowflake, often involving the use of Python scripting.

Steve Jepson attended Staffordshire University from 1990 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. In March 2022, they obtained the Matillion Associate Certification from Matillion.
