Tom Hale has a diverse work experience in the hospitality industry. Tom started their career in 1992 as a Bar Manager at Barefoot Restaurant and later worked as a Floor Manager at Le Colonial Restaurant. In 1999, they became a Beverage Manager at The Palm Restaurant. In 2002, they ventured into entrepreneurship and became the Owner and Operator of Holberg no 19. In 2003, they opened another venture called Holberg no19, where they served as the Owner until 2017. Tom then worked as a Cultural Advisor at The Living Institute from 2007 to 2009. In 2018, they joined Matrikel1, first as a Head Sommelier and later as the Director of Food and Beverage. In 2021, they worked as a Food and Beverage Specialist at d'Angleterre, Copenhagen, and in 2022, they joined Soho House & Co as a Floor Manager.

Tom Hale attended the United States Naval Academy from 1985 to 1986, where they pursued a basic course of study. Following this, from 1986 to 1991, they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Theater from The University of Texas at Austin. In addition to their formal education, Tom Hale holds a certification in Wine Tasting: Sensory Techniques for Wine Analysis from UC Davis Extension, although the specific month and year of their accomplishment are not provided.
