Robert Schmitz is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in the subsea and engineering sectors. Currently serving as Design Engineering Manager at Matrix Composites & Engineering since July 2019, Robert oversees the R&D Engineering department and leads the development of Subsea Buoyancy module technology in Perth, Australia, and Houston, Texas. Previous roles include Engineering Manager at Sandvik, where Robert managed Ground Engaging Tools, and at OneSubsea, where responsibilities included overseeing a team of eight aftermarket engineers for subsea tooling, wellheads, and trees. As Lead Engineer at Velocious Pty Ltd, Robert directed design efforts for subsea tooling solutions, and earlier positions included Senior Mechanical Engineer at Elevator Sales Pty Ltd and Mechanical Engineer at Ferno UK Ltd, focusing on design and development of elevators and medical equipment, respectively. Robert holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bradford.
