Marcel Schoppers

Marcel Schoppers is currently the Director of Flight Software at Matter Intelligence, where they continue to lead initiatives in aerospace technology. From 2020 to 2024, Marcel was a technical product and project manager at NASA JPL, focusing on ultra-reliable computer systems for entry, descent, and landing missions. Marcel has a longstanding history at NASA JPL, serving as a flight software manager and systems engineer from 1997 to 2024, where their teams successfully delivered software for mission-critical science instruments across multiple spacecraft. Prior to their tenure at JPL, Marcel was a research professor at Stanford University and a small business owner, amassing significant contributions to intelligent robotics with numerous publications. Marcel holds a Bachelor of Science from The Australian National University and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
