Luke Ferro began their career in 2012 as a Laboratory Technician at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2014, they moved to the University of California, Berkeley, where they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher. In 2020, they joined the Whitehead Institute as a Postdoctoral Researcher at MIT, where they developed workflows for the detection of secondary metabolites from yeast and human cells using mass spectrometry, and generated and characterized 20+ yeast strains with altered metabolism. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist at Matterworks, a position they have held since 2022.
Luke Ferro obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 2009 and 2012. Luke then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, which they completed in 2020.
