Mike Gunter

Mike Gunter is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in chip design and advanced computing systems. As the Founder and CTO of MatX since November 2022, Mike focuses on developing faster chips for large language models. Previously, Mike held multiple senior engineering roles at Google from 2005 to 2022, where significant contributions included leading the first hardware-acceleration project and designing a large-scale machine-learning system used in numerous high-stakes applications. Mike's early career involved founding Gossett and Gunter, Inc., and working on innovative wireless communication and ASIC design at various organizations. Mike holds a degree from the University of California, Berkeley, earned between 1987 and 1991.
