MatXchange is a tech-enabled recycling startup transforming Nairobi’s waste management ecosystem.

The Problem: Kenya’s recycling system is fragmented. Pickers are underpaid, recyclers waste time sourcing clean plastic, and brands struggle to verify supply chains.

Our Solution: We aggregate clean PET plastic at the source, ensuring fair, instant payments via M-Pesa and providing recyclers with reliable volumes. All data is tracked digitally for traceability and transparency.

How It Works:
1. Collection & Sorting: Communities sort plastics to ensure high purity.

2. Aggregation: Materials compressed locally to maximize efficiency.

3. Unified Pickup: Recyclers collect from single points, saving fuel and time.

4. Digital Audit: Instant payments and verifiable collection data for partners.

Impact: MatXchange reduces inefficiencies, creates fair income for pickers, and provides brands with transparent, verifiable recycling data — building a circular economy in Kenya.

Join Us: We are piloting in Nairobi and looking for recyclers, partners, and supporters who want to build Africa’s sustainable recycling future.
