Yao Yu has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2005, Yao pursued an Mphil. in Electronic Engineering from City University of Hong Kong. Yao then went on to complete a B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering from Xidian University in 2005. Afterward, Yao joined Drexel University in 2007, where they completed a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2011. During this time, Yao also served as a visiting student research collaborator at Princeton University from September 2010 to December 2010. Following their education, Yao worked as a Postdoc at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey from May 2011 to June 2012, then as a visiting scholar from July 2012 to March 2013, and finally as a research consultant from April 2013 to June 2013.
In 2014, Yao transitioned to industry and worked as a Software Engineer at Qualcomm from June 2014 to February 2015. From 2015 to 2019, Yao worked at ARRIS, first as a Senior Software Engineer from February 2015 to February 2018, and then as a Staff Software Engineer from February 2018 to January 2019. In 2019, Yao joined Metawave Corporation as a Radar Engineer from January 2019 to June 2019, and then as a Staff Radar Engineer from June 2019 to March 2020. Currently, Yao is working at MaXentric Technologies as a Signal Processing Engineer on Radar, starting from May 2020.
