Ivan Ilak

Ivan Ilak is a software engineer who currently works at MaxWell Biosystems. Ivan previously worked at Empa from September 2021 to May 2022, where they were responsible for software engineering and data analysis.

Ilak's first major project at Empa revolved around real-time data analysis of an autonomous machine and the correction of operational behavior depending on the analysis. Most of the work was done in Python and key elements were: efficient processing and feature-determination of spectral data, I2C communication between RedPitaya and environmental sensors, ensuring fail-safeness, and creating unit-tests for legacy code.

The second project consisted of a major rewrite of pre-existing spectral-analysis software. Emphasis was put on modularity and customizability of the code, to allow the user to analyze a wide spectrum of problems while keeping the interface as clean as possible.

Ilak's experience with both Python and data analysis makes him a valuable asset to MaxWell Biosystems, where they are able to apply their skills to develop new software solutions for the company's products.

Ivan Ilak has a Master's degree in Physics from ETH Zürich and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the same school. Ivan also has a Matura from Bündner Kantonsschule Chur.
