JB Smith

JB Smith has extensive work experience in various roles, starting from 2004 to the present. They currently serve as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Mayan since 2021. Before that, they founded and worked as a Senior Developer and Project Lead at adversarial.systems since 2014, where they applied deep learning tools to practical applications and utilized CNNs and RNNs for image-based searches.

From 2014 to 2018, JB Smith worked at Voyant as a Senior Developer and Project Lead, contributing to the development of a new Ember.js front-end to a legacy backend. They also collaborated with a younger developer to drive project momentum.

From 2012 to 2014, they worked as a Senior Developer at Telepictures, focusing on backend CMS development for the company's website products. They implemented features such as geolocation of IP addresses to correlate daytime program schedules with viewers' locations.

Between 2011 and 2012, JB Smith served as a Project Manager and Senior Developer at LumenVox, where they engaged in product development for voice recognition workflows. They were particularly involved in performance tuning and feature expansion of custom branded voice interaction systems.

In 2011, they worked as a Project Manager at Numberstream, where they developed front-end and back-end systems using jQuery, Node.js, and datastores like Riak or CouchDB.

From 2009 to 2011, JB Smith was employed as a Senior Developer at Vigor Systems. They also founded their own consulting group, called JBSmith Consulting Group, from 2007 to 2010.

In 2008, they served as a Project Lead at Pound Interactive, managing a large-scale public site development project using PHP and coordinating distant resources.

Lastly, in 2004, JB Smith founded InZon, a telecom company, and worked as the COO. They designed and managed high-performance Business Intelligence software, utilizing Java and Ruby on Rails for ETL systems.

JB Smith attended the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1987 to 1989, where they studied Architecture. They did not obtain a degree during this period. In terms of additional certifications, JB Smith obtained various certifications from Coursera. In May and June 2018, they received certifications in topics such as Convolutional Neural Networks, Deep Learning Specialization, Sequence Models, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects.
