Colin Wright

Colin Wright is a partner with McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP. Mr. Wright concentrates his practice on intellectual property matters, including patent preparation and prosecution in the mechanical and medical areas. He also assists in preparing freedom to operate, validity, non-infringement, and patentability opinions.

Mr. Wright has more than twelve years of patent prosecution experience covering a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical technologies including building materials, fluid systems, surgical tools, blood analysis systems, household medical devices, vehicle control systems, mining equipment, batteries, microscopes, appliances, silicon manufacturing, hydraulic press machines, and others. He also has particular expertise assisting inventors develop strategies to unlock the patent potential of consumer products and straightforward mechanical inventions. Mr. Wright aggressively advocates for his clients during late-stage prosecution and has successfully appealed rejections in dozens of patent applications.

Mr. Wright also provides counseling regarding the development, selection, and protection of intellectual property including trademark, trade dress and design patents.

Prior to joining MBHB, Mr. Wright was a patent agent for several years. Outside of work he enjoys running, board games, and spending time with his wife and daughters.
