Stephen Matos

Stephen Matos has extensive experience in recovery support, specializing in gambling addiction treatment. Currently serving as a Peer Counselor and Recovery Support Specialist at the Midwestern Connecticut Council on Alcoholism since January 2016, Stephen manages the Statewide Gambling Recovery Support program. Previous roles include Recovery Support Specialist and Case Manager at The Connection, where responsibilities involved facilitating gambling recovery groups and working with individual clients from April 2013 to June 2020, and facilitating recovery groups for Advocacy Unlimited from September 2014 to November 2015. Stephen's professional background also includes a long tenure as Operations Manager for the State of Connecticut from June 1975 to November 2012. Education includes ongoing studies at Recovery University and certifications in substance abuse and gambling counseling from CCAR and NCGC.
