Priya Kumar

Priya Kumar, PhD, serves as a Senior Analyst at Global Affairs Canada, specializing in data translation and design methods, focusing on online hate, digital diaspora, and tech-related gender-based violence. In parallel, Priya holds the position of Professor of Practice at McMaster University, where courses address online threats to democracy and the implications of disinformation and hate speech. Additionally, Priya is a Senior Research Fellow at the CERC in Migration and Integration at Toronto Metropolitan University, and previously contributed to the Social Media Lab as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Online Identity Politics from SOAS University of London, an M.A. in Public and International Affairs from the University of Ottawa, and a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in International Development and Globalization from the same institution.
