James Nester

James Nester has an extensive work experience in various roles within the marketing and public affairs field. James has worked as the Head of Marketing & Client Advocacy at MCNC since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at West Virginia Mutual Insurance Company as the Subject Matter Expert Consulting - Director of Marketing & Lobbyist from 2019 to 2021. At Lumos Networks (later renamed Segra), they served as the Vice President of Marketing & Public Affairs, Director of Marketing & Public Affairs, and Director of Public Affairs from 2011 to 2019. James also held the position of Vice President of Client Services at Maple Creative from 2004 to 2011 and Director of Marketing & Communications at Wilson College in 2003. Additionally, they worked as a Public Affairs / Legislative Liaison at Project Manager Soldier Weapons in 2003 and as a Client Services Coordinator at Maple Creative from 2001 to 2003.

James Nester earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 1995. In 2001, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Charleston. Additionally, they have obtained a certification in "Starting a Memorable Conversation" from LinkedIn in the year 2021.
