Julia Vaz

Editorial Intern at McSweeney's

Julia Vaz currently serves as Managing Editor of Newsroom and Vice President at The Brown Daily Herald, Inc., where Julia has also held roles as Metro Section Editor and Senior Staff Writer since January 2022. Julia's experience includes a summer internship at Heatmap News and collaborative research with Pulitzer Prize finalist Elizabeth Rush and Professor Kate Schapira on climate adaptation in Warren, RI, as part of the UTRA Award project. Additionally, Julia has been a Teaching Assistant for "Writing Climate, Writing Community" and has contributed to The College Hill Independent, McSweeney's, and post-Magazine. Julia is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Modern Culture & Media at Brown University, following a high school education at Centro Educacional da Lagoa.
