Brian South

Brian South is an accomplished engineer and manager with extensive experience in product development and engineering across various industries, including optical technologies and medical devices. Currently serving as Codes & Standards General Manager at McWane, Inc., Brian previously held roles at Excelitas Technologies Corp. as a Mechanical Engineer, where responsibilities included designing opto-mechanical fixtures and managing a rapid prototyping lab. As Co-Founder and Head of Engineering at Rombal Inc., Brian developed an orthopedic surgical device start-up, refining business strategies and leading product development. Brian's career also includes a decade at The University of Texas at Austin - McDonald Observatory, where significant contributions were made to the High Resolution Spectrograph on the HET Telescope. Educational credentials encompass degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Biomechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, complemented by a Master's in Technology Commercialization from Texas McCombs School of Business and a professional certificate in Finite Element Analysis from Colorado School of Mines.
