Our story began in 1995 when a Council-owned converted school classroom on a month to month rent agreement became the first home of MDK.

Our Founder and Managing Director, Martin King, used the 1,200 square foot facility to manage stock control, incoming orders and outgoing invoices, all whilst selling, building and co-ordinating the delivery of the chairs himself at times before going home to do the admin and accountancy tasks.

With a YTS Scheme employee alongside him and an outsourced upholstery service partnership retained for the first three years of trading, MDK was born…

Fast forward 30 years to today and we are now successfully operating out of a new 45,000 square foot dedicated facility that houses our entire manufacturing process including design, warehousing, cut and sew, upholstery, final assembly, quality control and despatch.

In conjunction with a three-storey adjacent office block with dual-storey showroom space and our own London showroom in the heart of Clerkenwell, you could say we look a lot different to the early days.

One thing hasn’t changed, and that is we proudly remain a family-owned business.

Everything that was important at the beginning; product quality, value for money, integrity and an unrivalled customer experience, continue to be a mainstay in our everyday thinking.

Paying attention to the ever-changing dynamics of the office furniture market our ranges have fast evolved.

Sustainability, innovation, and value engineering are the three key identifiers in all our new product developments.

Now with an all-encompassing portfolio, we have something to tick most boxes whether that be an ergonomic posture chair, sustainable task chair, contemporary meeting room chair or a 4-person meeting booth.

Operating with a strict Trade-Only policy, our ranges are marketed and distributed through carefully selected Dealer Partners who since day one, have been the cornerstone of our business.
