Derek Elmo

VP, Data Center Construction at Miller Electric Company

Derek Elmo is currently the VP of Data Center Construction at Miller Electric Company, Inc. Previously, they served as the Director of Mission Critical Practice at AECOM Tishman from July 2019 to October 2020. Prior to that, Derek was the Director of MEP Services for Turner Construction Company's Global Mission Critical Facilities Group from January 2013 to July 2019.

Derek has been instrumental in overseeing standards, project work, and resources for all MEP, IT, and AV scopes of work for mission-critical facilities globally. Derek has extensive experience in data center construction, having worked on projects such as the expansion and renovation of Cologix Data Center in Jacksonville, FL, the new data center for Microsoft in Des Moines, IA, and the upgrade to Carnival Cruise Lines data centers in Miami, Fl and Los Angeles, CA.

Most recently, Derek oversaw the construction of a new 66,000 sq. ft. Quicken Loans Technology Center with two 10,000 sq. ft. server rooms, training areas, office, and support space. Derek also has experience working on international projects, such as the new 70,000 sq. ft., two-story, tier 4 data center in Tultitlan, Mexico.

Derek's experience and expertise have made him a valuable asset to Turner Construction Company's Global Critical Facilities group. Their clients benefit from their global perspective and the ability to apply lessons learned to meet specific client goals and challenges.

Derek Elmo has a background in business management from their coursework at Penn State University. Derek also has training in construction project management, electrical estimating, and code compliance from the Construction Industry Training program. Additionally, they are a certified electrician from the state of Pennsylvania and has completed the OSHA 30 construction safety and health course.

Their manager is Henry Brown, CEO. Derek Elmo works with Susan Walden - EVP & Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, David Stallings - Chief Technology Officer, and Donnie Smith - Chief Commercial Officer.
