Fiachra Matthews

Principal Architect at Medable

Fiachra Matthews has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries.

Fiachra started their career as a Student Placement at IBM in 2004 and then went on to work as a Data Migration specialist at Mercury Engineering in 2005.

From 2005 to 2011, they worked at the Hamilton Institute, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, where they served as a PhD Researcher and later became a Post-Doctoral Fellow. In these roles, they led software development for the Irish Robocup team and managed the software infrastructure for robot soccer competitions.

In 2007, Matthews joined the Dept. of Electronic Engineering, National University of Ireland Maynooth, as a part-time Lecturer. Fiachra taught courses on signal processing, applied computing, and computer architecture.

In 2011, they transitioned to Fifth Province Ventures as a Senior Developer, where they worked until 2013.

Matthews then became the Head of Software Engineering at Galvanic Limited from 2013 to 2017. In this role, they coordinated and developed software development kits, APIs, and games for the PIP stress sensor. Fiachra also designed and implemented large-scale cloud services for customer data storage and sharing.

Currently, they are employed at Medable, Inc, where they initially started as a Senior Developer in 2017 and has recently been promoted to the role of Principal Architect.

Fiachra Matthews holds a PhD in Computer Science from Maynooth University, which they obtained from 2005 to 2011. Prior to their doctoral studies, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Maynooth University from 2000 to 2005. Their education history also includes their attendance at Franciscan College in Gormanston, Co. Meath from 1994 to 2000, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this period.
