Mary Spanarkel is an experienced educator and language specialist with a robust background in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and developing language assessment materials. Currently serving as an ESL teacher at Asbury Park School District and working as a copyeditor and QC contractor for MedBridge, Mary also consults for the Center for Applied Linguistics, focusing on test item writing for ELLs. Previous roles include an English Language Fellow, professional development chair for the Washington Area TESOL Association, and director of curriculum and instruction at Washington English Center, where significant funding was secured and extensive program evaluations were conducted. Mary holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language from American University and has acquired additional degrees in Higher Education Administration and History with Secondary Education.
