Joe Abel

Joe Abel is an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in the healthcare industry. Joe is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer at MedFlight since 2023. Previously, from 2007 to 2022, Joe held the position of Vice President Finance at OhioHealth, where they were responsible for the fiscal health of multiple entities within the organization. Joe led a team of 35+ direct/indirect reports and successfully executed financial strategies, implemented cost-saving initiatives, and ensured compliance with budget targets. Prior to that, Joe worked as an Accounting Controller at OhioHealth from 2007 to 2015. Joe also has experience as an Accounting Controller at Community Health Systems from 2005 to 2007 and at Triad Hospitals from 2002 to 2005. In these roles, they oversaw daily accounting operations, financial statement review and preparation, and implemented process improvements. Joe is known for their strong leadership skills, financial expertise, and ability to drive efficiencies in the organizations they have worked for.

Joe Abel completed their Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati in 1990. Joe then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ashland University, which they completed in 1999. In 2014, Joe obtained the Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) certification from HFMA.
