Olena Chubach

Olena Chubach is a Senior Staff Engineer at MediaTek since June 2018, with a robust background in video compression algorithms and perceptual optimization. Previously, Olena served as a researcher at RWTH Aachen University from April 2014 to May 2018, contributing to the PROVISION Marie Curie Initial Training Network by focusing on enhancing video compression efficiency through the utilization of human visual system properties. A brief tenure as a Visiting Researcher at the BBC in early 2016 involved exploring alternative motion vector creation using homography for motion compensation. Earlier roles included a Research Assistant position at Odessa National 'I.I. Mechnikov' University, where Olena worked on image and video compression algorithms and supported lectures in Signal Theory and Information Technology, and a significant internship at Université Pierre et Marie Curie/LIP6. Olena Chubach holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from RWTH Aachen University and a master's degree in Applied Mathematics from Odessa National Mechnikov University.
