Michael O’Connor

Michael O'Connor has a solid background in the insurance industry, with diverse experience in underwriting and client management. Michael has worked at MedPro Group since 2022 as a Senior Commercial Underwriter, specializing in senior care. In this role, they review applications, determines risk acceptability, and ensures underwriting guidelines are followed. Michael also manages a portfolio, builds relationships with producers, and identifies cross-selling opportunities.

Prior to MedPro Group, Michael worked at Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. from 2020 to 2022 as a Senior Commercial Underwriter, focusing on senior living. Michael managed a $15MM book of business, aimed for $1.5MM in new business, and maintained a retention rate of 90%.

From 2019 to 2020, Michael served as the Vice President and Client Executive at SafeHarbour Insurance Group INC. Michael focused on augmenting portfolio risk capability, attracting new clients, and maintaining a 5% loss ratio.

Before that, Michael had an extensive tenure at CNA Insurance from 2015 to 2019. Michael held various roles in healthcare commercial underwriting, specifically in aging services. Michael managed a $7M book of business, covered multiple states, and underwent a comprehensive underwriter trainee program.

Michael's work experience journey began as a Student Assistant at the University of Colorado Denver from 2013 to 2015.

Michael O'Connor obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Communication, General from the University of Colorado Denver, from 2013 to 2015. Additionally, they obtained several certifications in various fields such as CPCU 550 from the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society in January 2016, Directors and Officers Liability and Employment Practices Liability from CNA Insurance in September 2015, Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) from the National Underwriter Company in July 2015, Underwriter Laboratories (UL) in July 2015. Michael also obtained certifications in Conflict Ambassador, Mediation, and Public Relations from the University of Colorado Denver in March and August 2013, respectively.
