Patrick Hurd

Patrick Hurd is the Senior Associate at MedStartr, a venture capital firm that serves a global community of healthcare innovators. Prior to their current role, Hurd worked at MedStartr Ventures for 2 years and 6 months, where they held various titles including Vice President, Senior Associate, Analyst, and Intern.

As Analyst, Hurd was responsible for spearheading all aspects of the due diligence process to rigorously evaluate startup investment opportunities. This included conducting thorough interviews with startup founders and management teams, reviewing company financial statements and business plans, and training new employees on the due diligence process.

In addition to their analytical responsibilities, Hurd also sourced business opportunities by organizing investment pitch contests and by leveraging existing relationships with VCs. Patrick coordinated in-person and virtual investment pitch contests with sole responsibility for participant outreach, researching and engaging with startups/event judges, coordinating venues, and organizing promotions. Patrick also leveraged digital media to promote MedStartr’s brand, acquiring over 20,000 users on Clubhouse in just one month’s time.

Through their work at MedStartr Ventures, Hurd acquired invaluable experience in negotiating valuations/term deals and drafting investment memos. Patrick was hired as an Intern after receiving their BS in Health Administration, and gained invaluable insight into the world of VCs and innovative healthcare startups.
