John Schmidt

John Schmidt is a Principal R/D Engineer at Medtronic, where they have worked since 2023, following their role as a Senior R/D Engineer from 2018 to 2023. Previously, John served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Washington University in St. Louis from 2013 to 2017, where they specialized in characterizing the mechanical properties of soft biological tissues using MR elastography and finite element models. John began their academic journey at Gustavus Adolphus College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Physics before attaining both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering at Washington University. Additionally, John has held various research and teaching positions, including internships at Seagate Technology and roles at Gustavus Adolphus College.
