At MEES International School in Tokyo, we believe children learn best when their curiosity leads the way. Established in 2016, MEES launched its Elementary program in September 2021, growing into a boutique international school that blends Montessori and Reggio Emilia practices in our Preschool with Project-Based Learning (PBL) at the heart of our Elementary program.

Our learning environment encourages exploration, creativity, and inquiry. Preschool students build independence and imagination through open-ended materials and child-led projects, while Elementary students engage in real-world, hands-on challenges that help them develop confidence, collaboration skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Beyond our campuses in Hakusan and Sendagi, students also learn in our two privately owned forest locations in Chiba: unique annex learning spaces where nature becomes the classroom. These outdoor environments support ecological awareness, problem-solving, and meaningful connection to the natural world.

Across all programs, we integrate STEM, design thinking, and digital literacy, with each elementary student using a personal iPad to support research, collaboration, and creation.
