Dan Pitt has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Dan has chaired the Selection Committee for the Anita Borg Technical Leadership Award and served as the Executive Director at the Open Networking Foundation. Prior to these roles, Dan Pitt was the Dean of Engineering at Santa Clara University, where they oversaw various departments and promoted research, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

Dan Pitt attended Brookline High School in Brookline, Mass. for their secondary education. Dan then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics (Magna Cum Laude) at Duke University. For their executive education, they attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, focusing on Managing Technology and Strategic Innovation. Additionally, they pursued executive education in Financial Management for Non-Financial Executives at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. Dan furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
