Derek Jones has a diverse work experience in the audio industry. Derek started their career in 1997 at Dragon Systems as a QA Audio Engineer, where they tested and improved microphone technologies and developed acoustic subsystems for various products. In 2001, they joined Megatrax Production Music as the Director of Creative Services & Production, where they were responsible for recording, editing, mixing, and producing audio for multiple catalogs. Additionally, they oversaw the production and release of two catalogs, Track Distillery and Sync Hero. Derek also worked as a Freelance Audio Mixer and Sound Engineer, collaborating with various musicians, filmmakers, and television producers. Derek worked on projects ranging from music albums to TV shows and documentaries.

Derek Jones began their education at Lynnfield High School from 1989 to 1993, where they received their High School Diploma. During this time, they focused on Music Performance in a general sense. In 1993, they went on to attend Berklee College of Music until 1997, earning a Bachelor of Music degree. Derek'sfield of study during this period included Music Production, Engineering, Arranging, and Composition. In 2005, Derek pursued further education at Video Symphony, specializing in Protools Audio Editing for Music and Post Production. Although they did not obtain a specific degree during this time, they achieved an Expert Certification in the field.
