The future will be electric. No one should doubt it anymore.
Because in the more or less near future, and thanks to the development of renewable energies, electricity will be more abundant and its cost will drop until it becomes cheaper than oil and gas.
With technological development helping, it will be easier to store electricity and it will then replace all other forms of energy. It will fly planes, roll cars, trucks and motorcycles, navigate ships and launch rockets. It will also run 100% of factories, heat buildings, in addition to lighting streets and homes.
But this development will not take place without a hitch. Because as we are already seeing, with the widespread use of electronics, equipment has become much more sensitive to transients and other anomalies in electrical energy. Previously, the equipment was fairly immune to short-term power fluctuations and did not return problems to the utility grid. Now, with the introduction of non-linear devices (inverters, chargers, power supplies, etc.), harmonics are created and can affect the equipment of the customer, that of his neighbors but also that of the public service.
Our business will then have to evolve and all of its players, with.
To determine the source of these problems, customers, utilities and consultants are increasingly equipping themselves with measurement solutions to monitor, record and analyze these phenomena.
Electricity distributors will come under increasing pressure, and they will in turn be forced to hold polluters and other disruptors of the public grid to account.
Meier Energy is making its contribution to the energy transition by developing solutions for:
- Energy measurement and metering,
- Assessment and monitoring of the power quality
- Filtering of harmonics and reactive energy compensation
- Equipment protection against voltage variations
- Energy storage and electric mobility
