Robert E. Cardwell has extensive work experience in the field of user experience design and information architecture. Robert E. is currently working as the UX Design Lead for Merative Micromedex since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the UX Design Lead for Micromedex at IBM Watson Health from 2018 to 2022. In this role, they led the UX design for a web-based pharmacy and medical knowledge solution. Before that, they were a User Experience/IA Architect at PK from 2013 to 2018, where they were responsible for designing web and mobile products and leading usability testing and user research. Robert E. also worked as a Senior User Experience Architect at DTN / The Progressive Farmer from 2011 to 2013 and as a Human Factors/Information Architect at First National Bank of Omaha from 2000 to 2011. In their early career, they worked as a Human Factors/Usability Specialist and Graphic Designer at Union Pacific Railroad and as a Graphic Designer at Webster Design Associates.

Robert E. Cardwell's education history begins in 1981 when they attended Brigham Young University for Visual Communications. Robert E. completed their studies in 1986. Following this, from 1988 to 1990, Cardwell studied Visual Communications at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Later, from 1998 to 2000, they pursued their studies in Human Factors - Cognitive Psychology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

In addition to their formal education, Robert E. Cardwell obtained a certification as an Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner from IBM in May 2019.
