Alex Confer

Alex Confer, Ph.D., is currently an Associate Principal Scientist in Materials & Biophysical Characterization at Merck. With a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University, Alex possesses seven years of academic experience focused on synthetic chemistry and catalysis, specializing in novel small molecules and their physicochemical characterization. Previously, as a Graduate Research Assistant, Alex conducted research on iron-containing metalloenzymes, employing various advanced spectroscopic and analytical techniques. Additionally, Alex has experience in teaching, having served as a Head Teaching Assistant for undergraduate chemistry courses, and held leadership roles in various scientific seminars.
