Joseph P. Smith

Joseph P. Smith, Ph.D., is the Director of Data-Rich Experimentation in Process R&D Enabling Technologies at Merck, where they lead a team focused on integrating innovative technologies in drug development. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Scientist and Principal Scientist at Merck, contributing to analytical technologies and vaccine R&D. Joseph has a strong educational background, holding a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Delaware, where they also excelled as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Additionally, their early research experience includes work at Penn State University, where they developed magnetic nanoparticles for medical applications.
