Mark Powley

Mark Powley is a distinguished scientist with extensive experience in toxicology and pharmacology. Currently serving at Merck since August 2017, Mark holds the title of Distinguished Scientist after progressing from Senior Principal Scientist. Prior to this role, Mark worked at the U.S. FDA from May 2009 to August 2017 as a Pharmacology/Toxicology Reviewer. Mark's career at Merck began in November 2004 as a Senior Research Biochemist and Senior Research Toxicologist until 2009. Earlier academic experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2001 to 2004. Mark earned a Ph.D. in Toxicology and a Master’s in Industrial Hygiene from Purdue University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health from Wright State University.
