Michael Steinbaugh

Michael Steinbaugh currently serves as the Director of Data, AI, and Genome Sciences at Merck, focusing on AI/ML development for pre-clinical target discovery, a position held since May 2024. Prior to this, Michael was the Director of Translational Science at Redona Therapeutics from 2020 to 2024, where responsibilities included pre-clinical development of small molecules that target RNA splicing and stability. Michael's earlier roles include Principal Scientist at Constellation Pharmaceuticals and Scientist II, with a focus on small molecules for chromatin regulation and transcriptional control. Additionally, Michael worked as a Research Associate at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, supporting single-cell genomics and bioinformatics, and as a Research Fellow at Joslin Diabetes Center and Harvard Medical School, conducting research on Nrf transcription factors. Michael holds a Postdoc in Genetics from Harvard Medical School, a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan Medical School, and a BS in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics with a Spanish Minor from UCLA.
