Mike Egan

Mike Egan currently serves as Vice President of Neuroscience in Global Clinical Development at Merck, a position held since July 2012, following various roles within the company including Associate Vice President and Executive Director. Prior to joining Merck, Mike Egan worked at Merck Research Laboratories as Senior Medical Director from 2005 to 2012 and was a Principal Investigator at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) from 1998 to 2005, where significant findings on genetic influences related to schizophrenia were made. Earlier experience includes serving as Acting Branch Chief at NIMH, where Mike Egan held the roles of Medical Director and Acting CEO of the Neuroscience Research Center. Educational qualifications include an MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, a residency in Psychiatry from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Virginia, complemented by a Neuropsychiatry Research Fellowship at NIMH.
