Yang Liu

Yang Liu is a seasoned professional in the field of computational biology with extensive experience in data science and pipeline development. Currently serving as Director of Data Science at Merck since March 2020, Yang Liu leads a team focused on Cardiometabolic Disease Department initiatives, implementing AI/ML approaches for data analysis and target identification across various health conditions. Prior to Merck, Yang Liu held roles at Amgen, including Scientific Director and Associate Principal Scientist, contributing to pipeline development in oncology and cardiometabolic disease, and executing toxicogenomics assays. Yang Liu began an academic career with postdoctoral positions at Boston University and Vanderbilt University, specializing in cancer genomics and pathway analysis. Yang Liu holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Master's degree in Computer Science from The University of Hong Kong.
