Becky Handforth

Becky Handforth is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in global health, specializing in program coordination and patient engagement. Currently serving as Programs Liaison on the Country Engagement Team at Mercy Ships since February 2020, Becky plays a key role in enhancing surgical care delivery in underserved regions. Previous roles at Mercy Ships include Hospital Programs Liaison, where collaboration with local healthcare entities was crucial during the Africa Mercy's mission in Senegal, and Patient Selection Administrative Assistant, contributing to patient selection and administrative functions. An independent consultant from 2015 to 2018, Becky focused on food fortification initiatives in partnership with notable organizations like the CDC and GAIN. Becky's earlier experience includes serving as Europe Associate and Research Assistant at the Food Fortification Initiative and as Cooking Matters Coordinator for the Capital Area Food Bank of DC. Becky holds a Master of Public Health from Emory University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Elon University.
